Whole Foods is NOT Nice

Sadi has been working with Whole Foods for almost 2 years now. During that time she is the only employee in Prepared Foods to ever receive a 100% from a secret shopper. Not once, but twice! I have to acknowledge that she has been written up, though... she was late for work by exactly 1 minute (you read that right).

Sadi has been keeping Whole Foods informed of my impending surgery so they could plan for her absence. Initially, Whole Foods was completely understanding and said no problem, take a few weeks off to be with me during surgery and recovery.

However, they have recently told Sadi that if she takes the time off to go with me to the Mayo for my surgery, then they would fire her (yep, you read that right again).

Unfortunately, Sadi falls short of the family medical leave act by about 40 hours. And this means Whole Foods can legally fire her. Really?!?

Update September 26, 2010

Whole Foods has said that Sadi will be allowed to take two to three weeks of vacation (they are not sure how much, yet) and still keep her job. If she is out for more than the two to three weeks, then she will be fired.

Thanks for listening.

Remember to push as high up and be as persistent as necessary. A little leverage with the right person will go a long way!

Bad publicity is far worse than no publicity.

A succinct letter to the right individual will go a long way!

Be creative and refuse to take "no" for an answer - unless it's what you need.

Don't quit - just keep going.....

Now that Whole Foods has told Sadi she will be fired if she takes the time off, we're definitely going to be aggressively pursuing the corporate office.

If Whole Foods follows through with their statement, then we are going to head to the local media.

We will not quit.
